Mrs. Lauren Heim
My name is Lauren Heim and I feel blessed to teach second grade at Auburn Area Catholic School. I feel proud to work at a school where the students, staff and parents make up a positive and supportive community. I believe it’s important to build strong relationships with my students. I provide a safe and loving environment where students feel comfortable learning. I like to make learning fun! For the majority of the school day, students work collaboratively with each other in small groups and with partners. I design my instruction to meet the needs of each student. I work hard to make sure that each student is challenged academically. My goal is that my second graders will leave my classroom as a lifelong reader, learner and disciple of Christ.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education from Saginaw Valley State University. I also have my Master’s Degree in Teaching Reading and Language Arts with a Reading Specialist endorsement from Oakland University. I love teaching reading!
After college, I taught in 3 different states and grades from Kindergarten through 2nd. I am a parishioner at St. Gabriel Parish.
I enjoy photography. Whenever there is an opportunity to take a picture, I bring my camera. I am a very happy person when I take a good picture, especially when I’m on vacation. I also enjoy running. In high school, I was on the cross country and track team. I ran in the Detroit Free Press half marathon. That was exciting because it was an international race and I got to run in Canada. On weekends, I spend time with family. Sometimes, I will go to the Detroit area and see my family.
